Affiliate Program Terms

Last updated: August 17, 2026

1. Agreement

These Affiliate Program Terms ("Affiliate Terms") govern your participation in the zSign referral and affiliate program. They are in addition to the zSign Terms of Service, which continue to apply to your use of the Service. Where the two conflict on a question about the affiliate program, these Affiliate Terms control.

Every zSign account is issued a referral code automatically, and commission accrues on referrals from the moment they are made. Accepting these Affiliate Terms and supplying valid payout details is what makes an accrued balance payable. Until you accept them, zSign has no obligation to pay you any amount.

2. Attribution

A person becomes your referral when they create a zSign account using your referral code — either by following your referral link, or by supplying the code directly. The code is what counts; a browser cookie set by your link is a convenience only, and may be lost.

Attribution is first-touch and permanent. An account is stamped with the first referral code it arrives with, and that stamp is permanent and cannot be changed afterward — including by you, by the referred account, or by a later referral code. Accounts that already exist cannot be attributed to you retroactively.

You may not refer yourself. Accounts you control, accounts created on your behalf, and accounts sharing your organization's email domain are not valid referrals, and commission on them will not be paid.

3. Commission

You earn 30% of every payment a referred account makes to zSign — credit pack purchases and subscription payments alike — for as long as that account keeps paying. There is no cap and no time limit.

Commission is calculated on the amount zSign actually receives, after any discount, and excludes taxes and payment processing fees. It accrues when a payment settles, not when it is initiated.

If a referred account cancels a subscription, commission on it stops. If that same account subscribes again later, commission resumes — the referral is attached to the account, not to any particular subscription.

4. Credits and bonuses

Someone who signs up through your referral link receives 25 free envelope credits instead of the standard signup bonus. When a referred account sends its first envelope, you receive 10 credits.

Credits are a service benefit, not currency. They have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash, cannot be transferred between accounts, and expire if your account is closed.

5. Payment

Cash payouts run quarterly, and are paid only to affiliates in the United States. We pay by PayPal or bank transfer to the payout details on your account. It is your responsibility to keep those details accurate; we are not liable for funds sent to details you supplied.

The minimum payout is $25. If your settled balance is below $25 at the end of a quarter, it rolls forward to the next quarter rather than being paid or forfeited.

Affiliates anywhere in the world — including outside the United States — may instead convert a commission balance into zSign credits at 1.5× its cash value, at any time, with no minimum. Conversion is immediate and cannot be reversed: a converted balance is no longer eligible for a cash payout.

We pay commission that has settled as of the end of the quarter. Payments still within a refund or dispute window may be held to the following quarter.

6. Refunds, chargebacks and reversals

If a payment that earned you commission is refunded or charged back, the commission on it is reversed. Where the reversal is partial, only the refunded portion is reversed.

If the commission has not yet been paid to you, the reversal simply reduces your balance. If it has already been paid, the reversal is recorded against your account and deducted from your next payout.

We will not ask you to repay commission we have already sent you. A negative balance is carried against future earnings only. If you never earn again, we write it off.

7. Prohibited promotion

You may not:

  • Bid on "zSign" or confusingly similar zSign brand terms in paid search, or use them in paid ad copy or display URLs. Traffic from people already searching for zSign is not a referral.
  • Place your referral link on coupon, deal, or discount-code sites, or represent that it provides a discount it does not.
  • Send unsolicited bulk email, messages, or comments promoting zSign, or post your link where it violates the host's rules.
  • Register domains, social accounts, or app listings containing "zSign" or a confusingly similar name.
  • Misrepresent zSign's features, pricing, security, or legal standing, or claim to be zSign, its employee, or its agent.
  • Use automated account creation, incentivized signups, or any scheme whose purpose is generating attributed accounts rather than real users.

When you promote zSign anywhere your relationship with us is not obvious, you must clearly disclose that you earn a commission. This is required by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guidelines, and equivalent rules elsewhere. A plain sentence is enough.

8. Fraud and termination

We may suspend or terminate your participation in the affiliate program at any time, and void all accrued but unpaid commission, if we determine in good faith that you have breached these Affiliate Terms — including self-referral, creating or coordinating accounts to generate commission, using stolen or fraudulent payment methods, or promoting zSign by a method prohibited in Section 7.

Either of us may end your participation at any time, for any reason, with notice. If we end it for a reason other than a breach of these Affiliate Terms, commission you have already earned and that has settled remains payable under Section 5.

Ending your participation in the affiliate program does not close your zSign account or affect your use of the Service.

9. Taxes and your status

You are an independent contractor, not an employee, partner, agent, or joint venturer of zSign. Nothing here creates an exclusive relationship, and you have no authority to make commitments on zSign's behalf.

You are responsible for all taxes on commission you receive. Because cash payouts are made to U.S. affiliates, we will ask you for a completed Form W-9 before your first payout, and we will issue a Form 1099-NEC if we pay you $600 or more in a calendar year. We may withhold payment until we have the tax information we are required to collect.

10. Changes to the program

We may change these Affiliate Terms, the commission rate, the payout minimum, the bonus amounts, or the conversion rate. Changes apply going forward from the date we post them — they do not reduce commission you have already accrued. We will post the new version here with an updated date, and material changes will be sent to the email on your account.

We may discontinue the affiliate program entirely. If we do, we will pay settled commission accrued up to that point under Section 5, including balances below the usual minimum.

11. Records

Our records of referrals, payments, commission, reversals and payouts are the authoritative record of what you have earned, absent clear evidence of error. You can see your own current balance and referred signups on your Referrals page.
